This book was given as a gift at the opening Gala celebration of Taniguchi’s beautiful renovation of MoMA. The designer wanted the covers of this book to mimic the new sandblasted glass walls of the museum. We chose rigid translucent vinyl with different layers and surfaces of silkscreen inks to achieve this.
Standing at the silkscreeners, mixing different shades of gray pinstripes on the inside covers until you could barely see through them from the outside covers, knocking out the MoMA logo from the stripes and placing the JPMorgan logo on the outside cover in another gray gave depth to the covers. Using 55mm rigid vinyl allowed you a glimpse of the building from page one of the text.
Artwork on the 5th of the month, on press by the 8th, 2,000 copies delivered by the 17th.
A challenge met by the Actualizers.
