Jugular
Antidote to Boredom

A Biannual Editorial-Style Art Book
Art Direction and Design: IFSTUDIO/

Toshiaki Ide and Hisa Ide designed each story with full-bleed spreads, special papers, die-cuts, inserts, transparent papers, and gatefolds.

Since the outside covers are so multi-faceted, we wrote instructions to the printer and bindery for producing them. The drips are multi-level debossed/embossed on top of a matte film laminate and a gloss UV. The 4/C image is debossed to sit inside and under the drips. The outside frame of the cover holds the title (matte foil stamped) and all of the text. The spine reveals the binding mesh and is not covered by a board. The black bars on the mesh are silk-screened.

Instructions and specifications of printing, binding and paper options, color proofing and trafficking were provided by the Actualizers. And, because creating the actual final print files for the "fancy" pages and special techniques were so complicated, we helped to provide the mechanicals to IF Studio’s creative team.

Not only was this one-of-a-kind publication highly collectible, it earned immediate praise in the publishing world.
